Edinburgh Trumpet Lessons
We teach trumpet lessons, cornet and flugelhorn at the Morningside School of Music and cover many different approaches to learning these popular instruments. For those who want to take a slightly more relaxed approach, we can be very specific to our students’ needs and styles to accommodate what they would like to learn on the trumpet.
Our teacher will offer to play with you in lessons to demonstrate the instructions and make it easier for you to understand them and the instrument.
The lessons offer a good variety with a focus on developing technique and sound, as well as playing a range of repertoire ranging from Classical, Jazz and popular to playing along with CDs of music such as Lord of the Rings; and preparing for exams should you wish to take them. For more advanced players, there is also the possibility of being involved with a local brass band that our teacher conducts so that the students can grow further. He is also happy to accompany you on the piano, which provides a vital part of a musician’s development – playing alongside others.
Children’s Trumpet Lessons
The trumpet is a physically demanding instrument; therefore, we suggest a starting age of 9 or 10. Nevertheless, it is a very popular instrument, and many children want to learn how to play it. Our trumpet lessons are taught by a professional who regularly performs around Scotland. Adult Trumpet Lessons
Our trumpet teacher has years of experience working with children and adults, including complete beginners and more advanced students. We advise that anyone interested in trying it out should come along for a trial lesson. We will supply you with a trumpet during your first lesson. The tuition is fun and exciting, so progress is usually made quickly.
Trumpet Lessons for Teenagers
We fully understand the National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher school music exams. Our knowledge of school exams and advice about how best to practice can help your teenager achieve their desired grades. We not only focus on the practical side during lessons, but we work through SQA
music theory past papers also.
